About us

In November 2007, SASE National - The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers was founded to help Asian heritage scientific and engineering professionals achieve their full potential. Organizations existed for other affinity groups - The National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers – and there was a need for a similar organization where students representing all of the pan Asian cultures could connect and support each other.

In July 2020, the Oregon State University chapter (SASE at OSU) was founded and have officially become a recognized chapter at Oregon State University. SASE at OSU adopts the purpose from SASE National and carries its missions to support the underrepresented and underprivileged populations including those of Asian heritage at the university and anywhere else where the needs for its support exist!  We're a very fast-growing collegiate chapter in the Pacific Northwest and have very strong connection with SASE National - West Region, as well as other chapters in the region.

Purpose

The purpose of our chapter is to advocate and support the mission statement of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (“SASE National”). “To prepare Asian heritage scientists, engineers, and technologists for success in the global business world, to celebrate diversity on campuses and in the workplace, and to provide opportunities for members to make contributions to their local communities.”

Vision

The people of SASE at OSU is the cornerstones of our chapter and shall be respected and treated with equity. SASE at OSU is open to OSU-students from all walks of life. Every members and affiliate shall be offered with the same opportunities and access to all programs that SASE at OSU shall provide.  Our chapter at Oregon State University makes every effort to be an inclusive, equitable and diverse environment of exchanging knowledge.

Mission Statement

SASE at OSU - The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers: Oregon State chapter supports its members’ career pursuits in every possible way, from deciding their major field of study to becoming competitive individuals for employment.
