President - Steve Olson

Steven is a Speech Communication/Theater Major here at OSU. In the Army he served as an Airborne Infantryman with the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Steven has spent two combat tours in Afghanistan, spending time as both a team and squad leader. After his undergrad at OSU he intends to move onto a Masters of Arts and teach within higher education.

Vice President - James Kelly

I was an Army veteran with 1-5 field artillery as a field artilleryman (13B).I Changed my MOS to become a field medic (91B) and was stationed with 2-2 infantry in Vilseck, Germany. While serving as a platoon medic I deployed to Kosovo for KFOR1 helping to insure equal medical treatment was given to both Albanians and Serbs in the Gjilani hospital ER in southern Kosovo. After Germany I had a break in service and became a general contractor in southern california building residential homes in and around Laguna Beach.  I joined the National Guard 1-160 Infantry where I re-classed to my 3rd MOS Forward Observer (13F). I deployed to Iraq in 2008 where I served as an Operations NCO and assistant Convoy Commander. Currently I’m a senior working on my B.S. in Marine Biology. During my time at Oregon State I have worked with the College of Fish and Wildlife looking at Carbon Sinks in Estuaries, and have Investigated Seagrass Wasting disease. Currently I’m working with the College of Earth, Atmosphere, and Oceanography Studying the morphology of Foraminifera in deep ocean sediments by creating 3d models using micro CT scans.

Secretary - Warren McClane

My name is Warren McClane, Secretary for the Student Veterans Associations at OSU. I hail from the hills of West Virginia but I spent a large portion of my childhood in the middle east. I graduated from Elkins High School in 2014. After that I served four years enlisted active duty in the U.S. Army. During that time I performed my duties as a medic in the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg, NC. Currently I am attending OSU as a second year student in the major Natural Resources. In my free time I play my banjo and hike trails. Go Beaves!



Treasurer - Katey Meyers

I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Climate Science with a minor in Physics. Before attending OSU I served eight years of active duty service in the Air Force where I was awarded a scholarship for an Enlisted Commission Program to attend AFROTC and become a commissioned officer. My post graduation plans are unclear, aside from the remaining commitment I have in the Air Force, but during my time at OSU and with the SVA I hope to bring forth an environment for student veterans to enjoy while pursuing their educational goals. 

PR Director - Chris Sherman

Chris is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with a minor in Philosophy, and a minor in History. A Corporal in the Marine Reserves, he is the first member of his family to serve in the Marine Corps, and the first in two generations to serve in the Armed Forces. Before enlisting in the Marines, Chris studied at Portland Community College, worked at UPS as a Supervisor, and studied for a single academic calendar year at Oregon State University in 2012-2013. Chris is expected to graduate in spring of 2021

Legislative Coordination Director - Ryan Maza

Ryan is an Economics and Political Science Double-Major here at OSU. He has a background in state legislation having worked at ASOSU as their Director of Legislative Affairs in 2019. Following his undergraduate education, Ryan plans on pursuing a Master’s of Business Administration with a specialization in corporate finance.

Assistant Legislative Coordination Director - Nikolay Galtsev

Hello! I'm Nikolay Galtsev, and I am your Legislative Program Director. I was born in Moscow, Russia, emmigrated to Arizona and now to Oregon. I'm an Environmental Sciences major. The US Government is something I've always venerated because of people's ability to make a change that is practically nonexistent in my native country. This is why I study policy and economics too, and that's why I'm here to help out! I'm here so you can get involved in your government and make the changes that truly represent our state.

Information Technology Director - Justin Vaughn

I served 11 years in the Army Reserve as an IT Specialist rising to the rank of SGT(E-5). I deployed to Iraq in 2009-2010 and Afghanistan in 2012 under the 82nd. I am currently studying Computer Science with a focus on web development and mobile applications. I got married in July of 2013 to Amber, she is a teacher at Central High School in Monmouth, OR. After graduation I plan on developing apps and websites for a variety of companies.
