Each year, SME organizes Digital Manufacturing Challenge with objective to inspire the next generation of engineer to go beyond the classroom or laboratory to deploy engineering design and manufacturing solutions to address to real world challenges.
This year challenge "AM to the Rescue: Digital Manufacturing Agility to Address Crises" is seeking to solutions to address natural or man-made disasters – circumstances where our fellow human beings are made homeless. Consider one, some or all of the following:
[1] Shelter(Individual or multi-family),
[2] Medical supplies/devices/facilities prioritizing the urgent/important needs,
[3] Manufacturing facilities as an economic engine of restoration and prosperity by and for all from mercantile to industrial scale.

The competition is open for any system, component, or process design that can be used to promote the art, science, and practice of manufacturing engineering. Any creative new way to make things is welcome. Also, a working prototype will not necessarily have been completed by the time of the submission. Such projects will be judged based on the design and analysis of the concept.
The proposal must be submitted in electronic form submitted and received by April 1, 2023. The First Prize: is $1000, the Second Prize: is $750, Third Prize: is $500
