Primary Recruitment is made up of a series of Rounds where Potential New Members (PNMs) meet members of different chapters. As a PNM progresses through each round, the number of chapters they return to will decrease until Bid Day when they receive an invitation to join a chapter. Each Round has a specific focus, like Philanthropy, to allow PNMs to learn more about the chapter and its membership experience.

Below is an explanation of what you can expect during each Round of recruitment and some recommendations for what to wear. These are all simply suggestions! We recommend individuals wear whatever they are comfortable in throughout the recruitment process. Remember, you want to be yourself during this process!

1. PNM Orientation

Everyone registered for primary recruitment is required to attend this orientation event. PNMs will receive their Recruitment Booklet and learn more information about the recruitment process. After the orientation, PNMs will meet with their Gamma Chis and the other individuals in their PNM Group. Gamma Chis will review information from orientation and go into more detail about what to expect during recruitment.

Attire: Casual, you'll just be with other PNMs and your Gamma Chis!

2. Sisterhood Round

This round every PNM will visit all 11 chapters and meet their members. This round takes place in the chapter houses and will happen all day Saturday, September 30th.

Attire: Casual Attire with Panhellenic Provided T-Shirt

3. Philanthropy Round

During this round, PNMs learn more about each chapter's unique philanthropies. PNMs can return to a maximum of 8 chapters for this round, but it is completely normal to return to fewer.

Attire: Still casual attire but feel free to show off causes you care about!

4. Chapter Tours Round

This round is an opportunity to learn more about the individual personalities and values of each chapter. Typically, this round includes a chapter hour tour. PNMs can return to a maximum of 5 chapters for this round, but it is completely normal to return to fewer.

Attire: Wear something that you wear out to brunch - think nicer tops or sundresses!

5. Preference Round

During this round, PNMs will participate in a ceremony or ritual unique to each chapter that shares more about their sisterhood and history. This is the final, more serious round of recruitment and gives PNMs a more personal look at the chapters. PNMs can return to a maximum of 2 chapters for this round, but it is completely normal to return to one chapter.

Attire: Wear something on the dressier that makes you feel confident! PNMs often wear dresses, nice skirts, or a formal top & slacks combo.

6. Bid Day

This is the day when PNMs receive their bid to join a chapter! Now new members, they get to join their new chapter for a fun celebration!

Attire: Wear something casual. Chapters will give you a Bid Day shirt to wear so be prepared for a quick change!

Mutual Selection

Panhellenic primary recruitment uses a mutual selection process. This means that as PNMs narrow down their chapter selections for the next round, chapters are narrowing down the list of PNMs they will invite back. This allows PNMs to find the chapter that is the best fit for them and chapters to find the best new members for their organization.

Its important to remember that PNMs are only narrowing down their chapter selections, they are never eliminating a chapter as a possibility. At the end of each round, PNMs submit their selections in order of preference for which chapters they most want to return to the next day. This means it is very likely that a PNM will find a chapter that they did not rank very high on their schedule for the next day. Think of this as an opportunity to meet more members of that chapter and learn more about what the chapter has to offer.

Panhellenic firmly believes that our community is made up of 11 amazing chapters and there is a place for everyone! We encourage you to keep an open mind and trust the process!
