OUTSPOKEN

An all-male identified a cappella group at Oregon State, and one of several a cappella groups that thrive in our community.

Founded in 2002, the group has recorded five albums and participated multiple times in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), where hundreds of collegiate a cappella groups compete annually. Groups are judged on their visual and vocal performances. Outspoken made it to the ICCA semi-finals in 2006, 2007, 2014, and 2020.

Outspoken mainly focuses on contemporary and classical hits and has a history of adding their own unique flair to popular tunes such as “Get You” by Daniel Caesar and “Sanctify” by years&years.

During the school year, you can catch Outspoken performing on the steps inside the front entrance of the Memorial Union every Friday at 5 p.m. with two other OSU a cappella groups, Divine and Power Chord. Check out the Outspoken Facebook page for updates and videos.

Audition

Outspoken Auditions occur during the beginning of Fall and Spring terms. For the year 2021 we are holding auditions online in the Winter as well.
We ask all that audition to prepare a verse and chorus from their favorite song!

All the A Capella groups sing at the MU steps at 5pm every Friday. (Exclusions applied for 2020/21 school year due to COVID)

What to expect from Outspoken?

Outspoken offers a multitude of different services in relation to vocal performance. We compete annually in collegiate a capella (ICCA) as well as offer our services for gigs and events of the public and those at OSU.

New members 2020-2021

Tanner Heatherly- Tanner is a transfer student coming to us as a sophomore studying nuclear engineering. We are so excited to have tanner join us and can’t wait for everyone to here him sing! He is also an author of several books such as “what beavers love and respect about ducks”! Congrats tanner!

Ari Lauthner- Everyone meet Ari Lauthner one of our new members joining us from auditions this term! We are so excited to have him in the group and we can’t wait for everyone to hear his amazing voice! Ari is a freshman studying biochemistry here at OSU! He’s even studied abroad in Argentina! Congratulations Ari!

Daniel Huynh- Everyone welcome back Daniel Huynh a returning member to OUTSPOKEN. Daniel is a graduate student at OSU completing his MAT. We are so excited to welcome him back into our group this year! Fun fact; Daniel plays tennis!
