On April 29, 2000 Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. (GAO) was founded at Oregon State University. The establishment of Gamma Alpha Omega nationally in 1993 created a sisterhood that would provide support and encouragement for Latina women and other women of color in higher education. Through community service, we uphold the importance of giving back to our communities and encourage young people of color, particularly Latina women, to strive for a college education and enhance their academic endeavors. GAO offers one educational scholarship annually to undergraduates.
