2017 Winner

"My name is Lizbeth Meza, and I am a third-year Kinesiology student studying at Oregon State University. I am from Salem, Oregon and I am the oldest out of my three siblings. I am a first generation college student. My goals are to become an occupational therapist to help underserved and underrepresented communities, and to achieve comprehensive growth on a professional level. The profession that I am pursuing are for those who have no access to health care, for the low-income families, for the marginalized communities, for the people who do not have easy access to education or greater knowledge, and for equity and social justice. I am passionate in helping people, and in settings examples for the generations after. I have the mentality of changing the world, one life at a time. I would love to make a difference and have a positive impact on people’s lives. I believe that having the opportunity to receive a college education and scholarships such as the Gamma Alpha Omega Scholarship Fund will help me achieve my goals, hoping to add value to the local and Latinx community"

“Hi! My name is Sienna Kaske. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and I am now a freshman here at OSU. I am currently an ethnic studies and political science major with an option in law and politics. I am currently working with the "Here to Stay" club, which is a club to help undocumented students here at Oregon State. I hope to become a human rights lawyer and eventually work for the ACLU. Eventually, I hope to make it into local government and then work my way up to the Senate”
